Swiss Life attaches great importance to responsible corporate conduct – be this in its business activities, society, its role as an employer or towards the environment.

How we assume responsibility

In its own operations, Swiss Life supports energy-saving measures and the sparing use of resources. Swiss Life has published comprehensive indicators on operational ecology for ten years, thus demonstrating clearly how environmental data have developed from year to year.

Swiss Life is committed to sustainability and attaches great importance to environmentally friendly behaviour. The company therefore focuses on energy-saving measures for electricity and water consumption, renewable energy sources and active environmental management in terms of its in-house operations and as a real estate owner.

Swiss Life invests several hundred million francs annually in the maintenance of its properties and ensures enviorenmentally friendly construction for its new building projects.

BREEAM-In-Use “Excellent” rating

In Luxembourg Swiss Life Global Solutions has chosen to offer its employees an exceptionally environmentally friendly building. The Vertigo office complex located in the Cloche d’Or district has achieved a BREEAM-In-Use “Excellent” rating. The property’s score of 76.7% is the highest achieved to date in Luxembourg. Thereflects the outstanding working conditions enjoyed by Vertigo’s tenants. The certification also confirms that the building is managed to its utmost potential, with a special emphasis on operational expenses. The rating takes into account environmental criteria including land use, energy, building materials, building management, health and well-being.  

High Environmental Quality (HEQ)
In addition, the Vertigo buildings are certified “High Environmental Quality” (HEQ) . The Vertigo buildings Polaris and Naos have been designed, constructed and managed according to HEQ practices and have all the aesthetic, technical and functional qualities desired with a minimal impact on the environment.

Vertigo meets exactly Swiss Life's environmental committments by addressing two major challenges of the 21st century: a growing desire for comfort and security on one hand and better management of resources and energy on the other hand. 

The Vertigo project controls environmental impact by applying principles of eco-construction (relationship to the surrounding environment, choice of healthy materials) and eco-management (energy, waste and maintenance management) as defined by the HEQ standard. The Vertigo project is also a pleasant and efficient working space that meets comfort standards (hydrothermic, acoustic, visual and olfactory) as well as health standards (working space, air and water) as defined by the HEQ standard. Vertigo is the first HEQ-certified building in the city of Luxembourg.
